Wetback Benes

This enfuriates me to no end. It is not bad enough that there are so many in my country but the politicians insist on rewarding them for ilegally entering the country and using services that they neither pay for in taxes nor do they contribute anywhere near as much in societal value as they take. That said, they do NOT try to integrate into the culture they claim to have adopted as immigrants to these shores have done for hundreds of years. To ad insult to injury they disrespect our flag that millions of Americans have fought and died for with shenanegons like this.

Being a traveling chameleon, I am well aware of the reasons they choose to come to these shores. I am also more painfully aware than most the reasons why they choose to swim accross the river or jump the fence to come here rather than do it the legal way. For those of you that have had no experienced dealing with INS let me take this opportunity to enlighten you: they are some of the biggest, most arrogant asses anyone could ever hope their enemy might ever have to deal with. The application process requires an inhumane helping of luck, organization, money, smarts and education to fill out the confuusing paperwork-all of which is a whole hell of a lot harder than jumping a fence or swimming the river. But beyond this is the fact that the US does not want them to come (at least not officially anyway) so there are insurmountable hurdles to overcome. Among those is that their country does not have the same efficient infrastructure that the US does so they have a very hard time indeed getting paperwork they didnt even know existed, cant read or understand all in the amount of time alloted. Really, I would be the first person to argue that the immigration system needs to be redesigned-there are WAY TOO MANY abuses that take place-and contrary to popular beliefe, not just by the hispanics.

But do we have do reward them for being ilegal? I am a law abiding citizen and while it was hard, I paid for my own secondary education. They should not be allowed to study in any US school unless they are here with the propper student VISA-let alone have their university fees handed to them compliments of the tax payer. I would not be opposed to having the US government help invest in education in Mexico-so it can become an economically stronger country (and its citizens will not look to going north as the only solution) but that is not happening.

Our elected politicians love little more than traveling around collecting "campaign donations" (aka bribes) all the while bragging about how they have made the US a safer country and it is because of their leadership that America is winning the war on terror but yet they continuously proove that they are incapable/disinclined to go to the trouble of actually sealing the border-much less actually agressively deporting people who are not here legally. I thought that was included in the oath they took to defend the Constitution when they took office but maybe they feel there are extenuating circumstances. Some people estimate there are as many as 13 million ilegals in the US-no one really knows who they are, where they came from or what they are doing in the US but yet George W is making America safer-yeah right, if you are going to feed everyone a line of bullshit-try harder to make it at least not appear to be what it is.

I do not care who picks the grapes or milks the cows or works in the slaughter houses. The fact that they are willing to do that type of dirty, dangerous and low paying work does not nor can it be an excuse to allow ilegals to be in the US. I think the penalties for this need to be significantly enhanced-like loss of property and long term encarceration for hiring anyone who is not legally in the country. What has the world come to when the US refuses to police its borders for fear of angering Mexico? What does the US have to fear of angering them? Why can't we charge Mexico for the costs the taxpayers incurr? If they cant pay, we can foreclose--I bet Americans could turn Baja California into one of the top vacation destinations in North America. Then the Mexicans there would get paid real wages, have the good schools, stable economy and relatively safe society-isnt that why they go north.

Besides-educating the illegal immigrant children for free is better than what we do for our own citizen. Dont you think that its about time the US took care of its own people first?
